Founded in 1909 as the Fourth District Agricultural School, the AV¶¶Òõ at Monticello (AV¶¶ÒõM) is one of the region’s few remaining open admissions universities. Serving southeast Arkansas, AV¶¶ÒõM offers 30 baccalaureate and six master’s degree programs. Additionally, the university offers seven two-year associate degrees and 15 technical certificates through its Colleges of Technology in Crossett and McGehee.
AV¶¶ÒõM has established a reputation for academic excellence in areas such as forest resources, nursing, teacher education, pre-medicine, health-related sciences, business and social science. The university is home to the Arkansas Forest Resources Center and one of the South’s top exercise physiology facilities. In recent years, AV¶¶ÒõM has added new opportunities to its curriculum, including popular programs in social work and criminal justice, a fast-track master’s degree program to place more teachers in the classroom, and online master’s degree programs in coaching, education, education leadership and creative writing.
